Giddy

I just ordered these earrings from Susan of Sulu Designs as a birthday present to myself. They were sold out by the time I saw them, so I e-mailed her and she put another pair up on her Etsy shop. Yippee! I can't wait until they arrive.

Must Read

Just finished The Other Boleyn Girl by Phillippa Gregory, and I loved it. Somewhere in the middle of the book I realized that I knew the ending but I just didn't care. The story was so engaging that I could pretend that maybe the outcome would be different. Now I'm anxious to read the other books by Gregory.
I know they made this book into a movie, but I've rarely enjoyed movies more than the books. The movie in my head is always better and more dramatic. However, for this one I might reconsider. Has anyone seen the movie? Is it worth possibly corrupting the movie in my head a little bit?

Good News

My nephew was born last Monday, on St. Patrick's Day! Little Sister gave birth 7 weeks early, so Nephew took us all by surprise. The Mister and I were able to go visit him in Steamboat on Friday. He's very small, 4 lbs. 10 oz., but he's making progress in leaps and bounds. We're so blessed!

Not Nice

I wanted edgy...I got edgy! The recommendations I got from Susan were helpful but I forgot to take the list with me to the library (doh!), so I just grabbed. Bad Luck and Trouble was everything I wanted: edgy, suspenseful, and NOT NICE. I loved it, even when I was cringing.

Journal

Trying a new journaling method. Rather than write complete sentences, I write phrases under four different categories: Thinking, feeling, doing, wanting/wishing. This technique, at least today, has loosened up my brain by not requiring me to compose sentences. Phrases that come to mind are immediately written down instead of being processed first. The layout of the page looks different and it seems to be stimulating new, creative thoughts. The categories are broad enough that I don't feel restricted.

On A Roll

Finished My Father's Secret War last night. It wasn't your typical World War II memoir as the emphasis was just as much on the relationship between the author and her father as it was about his experiences in the war. This book certainly passed my "No more nice!" requirement! I admire the author's tenacity to get the stories from her father in the face of his reluctance and even obstinance. It would have been so easy for her to write off all of his quirks and never investigate his past enough to learn the truth.

Finished

Finished The Last Summer of You and Me last night. One word: nice. It was a nice story. Not exciting, not fun, not boring. Didn't really inspire me, either. Just nice.
Ugh. I'm looking for a book that gets my heart racing and puts some color back into my world. Nice is boring. I need inspiration and spice!
No more nice.
